Šiais laikais sakyti, kad valgis reikalingas tik gyvybei palaikyti yra taip pat beprasmiška, kaip ir teigti, kad seksas reikalingas tik giminei pratęsti. Man valgymas yra malonumas. Malonu gaminti, ragauti, atrasti. Pauliui Jurkevičiui valgis yra ne tik malonumas, bet ir kultūra. Šioji galbūt net labiau svarbi. Tokį įspūdį susidariau perskaičiusi “Staltiesės ritmu“.
Retai skaitau negrožinę literatūrą, o dar rečiau – lietuvių autorių knygas. Todėl šitos nebūčiau pirkusi, nebent kada nors vėliau, per išpardavimus, jei žinočiau, kad tikrai gera… O dabar žinau – tikrai įdomi ir naudinga (ačiū “Tyto Albai”). Aišku, gal kas trečiame skyrelyje išdėstytoms mintims prieštarauju ir dėl to iš pradžių skaitydama kiek piktinausi. Bet po to supratau, kad jei mano nuomonė sutaptų su rašytojo nuomone, skaityti būtų baisiai neįdomu. Jis pasakė, ką mano apie maistą ir valgį, ir kad šie du žodžiai – ne tas pats. Apie jo kokybę ir kilmę, apie kultūrą, apie makaronus ir apie vyną, netgi apie cepelinus ir voveraites.
Aš galiu sutikti arba nesutikti. Galiu nesutikti su mintimi, kad negalima sakyti “šitas yra skanu, o šitas ne” (kol nuomonė nėra peršama kitiems), galiu nesutikti su teiginiu, kad reikėtų valgyti tik tai, kas sava (tada žiemą maitintumės raugintais kopūstais, o apie suši liktų pasvajoti). Bet galiu sutikti, kad maistas ir valgis skiriasi. Ir kad užsigerti sunkų mėsos patiekalą kava yra pavojinga sveikatai, net jei tai ir skanu. Ir kad pica su kečupu ir majonezo padažu yra picos išniekinimas.
O šiaip knygoje – vien Italija. Kažkaip saulėta darosi skaitant. Ir nuolat kyla noras prisėsti vynuogyne su duona, vynu, Parmos kumpiu ir tikruoju parmezanu. Šiaip rekomenduočiau knygą tiems, kurie visą gyvenimą valgo kelis patiekalus – makaronus, picą, virtinukus, kotletus, karbonadus. Gal jie ir nutėkš knygą į šalį, sakydami “tfu, snobas”. Bet parduotuvėje bent prieis prie alyvuogių aliejaus lentynos. Gal net pažiūrės, ar jis skaidrus, ar ne. Viskas gali baigtis tuo, kad nusipirks “pabandymui”. Žingsnelis po žingsnelio nuo maisto prie valgio.

2010-03-09 13:34Pradėjus skaityti šią knygą užplūdo keistas noras priešintis autoriaus nuomonei. Tai turbūt dėl nežmoniškos arogancijos, kuri sklinda iš kiekvieno sakinio. Jei tektų gyventi pagal autoriaus principus, tai nebedrįsčiau suvalgyti paprasto sumuštinio, neturėčiau į gatvę išeiti apsirengusi Zaroje pirktu rūbu (mažiausiai tai turėtų būti vienetinis drabužis arba bent jau neįperkamas garsių mados namų kūrinys),atostogauti jokiu būdu negalima būtų lietuviškame kaime ir , neduok dieve, užsienyje ne ekstra klasės viešbutyje.
Ir tai ne todėl, kad nejausčiau puikaus patiekalo skonio arba nesugebėčiau mėgautis aukštos kokybės paslaugomis. Bet ar tai turi būti gyvenimo tikslas ir pagrindinis užsiėmimas bei kasdienis rūpestis? Ar maistas turi atsiduoti snobizmu? Be abejo, tai neturėtų būti vien hamburgeriai. Nekalbėkime apie apsivalgymą. Organizmo funkcijoms palaikyti nereikia nei gurmaniškų patiekalų , nei riebalais aptekusių kepsnių. Gal apie tai reiktų diskutuoti…

2010-03-09 13:58Jo, arogancijos netrūksta, juk perspėjau, kad bus snobiška. Bet tu perskaityk visą ir tada susidarysi dar ir antrą įspūdį :) Knygoje labiau kalbama ne apie ypatingus patiekalus, o apie tuos paprastus, kasdienius, tik labai pabrėžiama jų kilmė.
