Pradėdama skaityti nežinojau, ko tikėtis. Mačiau, kad yra filmas su kietais aktoriais, o pačią knygą vertina arba kaip svajonių romaną, arba kaip labai giliamintišką. Perskaičiusi vis dar nežinau, ko iš jos man reikėjo tikėtis. Manau, kad knyga yra tiesiog… per trumpa.

Pipa. Ponia Li gyvena kartu su savo senuku vyru (30 metų už ją vyresnis), neseniai jie persikraustė į šlykštoką (ok, knygoje minimas kaip idiliškas) pensininkų miestelį. Ji tvarko namus, perka valgyti, galvoja apie savo vaikus ir tūpčioja aplink vyrą, kuris telefonu tvarko verslo reikalus. Bet štai staiga Pipa pradeda vaikščioti naktimis, vėl rūkyti, įdomius jausmus kelia kaimynės sūnus. Skaitai skaitai ir galvoji – tai kas iš to? Matosi, kad moteriškė nepatenkinta savo gyvenimu. Ir aš būčiau nepatenkinta. Po to seka pusės knygos ilgio paaiškinimas – Pipos jaunystės aprašymas. Tada supranti, kad ponia Li nėra tokia kaip atrodo iš pirmo žvilgsni. Ir kad jai neturi būti gera taip gyventi.

Išvada. Taigi, suvoki knygos esmę (kad žmogaus prigimties nepakeisi) ir vis dar galvoji – tai kas iš to? Tik tiek šia knyga ir norėta pasakyti? Arba aš ne viską supratau, arba knyga yra per trumpa. Ji lyg ir išbaigta, bet norėtųsi kažko daugiau. Žodžiu, gal geriau eisiu pasižiūrėti filmo su kietais aktoriais.

Niekada neskaitau knygų po jau matyto filmo. Tiesiog tada vienur ar kitur pasigendi kažkokių detalių ar epizodų ir lieki nepatenkintas :)
